One-third of council up for election. No elections this year in Alport, Belper Central, Belper North, Crich, Ripley and Marehay, South West Parishes or Wingfield. The election in Heage and Ambergate this year was a by-election.

Note:— The election in Swanwick ward was postponed due to the death of a candidate.
